Behind the Scenes: How a Weekend of Excellence is Created

This past Memorial Day weekend became the epicenter of legacy and excellence, and thanks to my agency I was granted a front row seat. Our client celebrated an incredible milestone with a major fundraising gala honoring decades of impact.

As it was my first time meeting my coworkers in person it honestly shocked me with how comfortable I became. I’m usually a lot more reserved the first-time meeting people but the vibes of us all together was just magic. Getting to know and see them in person and us just bouncing off each other really made the experience more memorable.

Under the guidance of my team, we were able to execute the job phenomenally. My role typically consists of behind-the-scenes work, but for conferences you could find me at the front desk being the reception desk greeting people in. I managed the check-in desk, ensuring people were registered, checked in, and properly greeted, registered people who showed up on arrival of the conference, and towards the last leg of the conference served as the information desk providing directions and current schedule.

I coordinated with my team on the unexpected things that came up, managing seating arrangements, creating name badges, and managing attendees on our guided tours. It was fun to witness the unexpected hurdles that were faced but watching everyone pivot and adapt with such grace taught me more than any textbook ever could.

As the event ended, I reflected on how much I grew in just 72 hours. This experience solidified exactly why I want to go into public relations. It’s about amplifying voices that matter and we’ve worked hard at creating a perfect ‘client-business’ world.

Moving forward, I’m taking the grit, the grace, and the tactical pivoting skills I learned during this event and applying them to every campaign ahead. To our client, congratulations on this incredible milestone and decades of impact. To my agency, thank you for showing me what it truly means to lead with power and purpose. Next stop: taking every trait and skill learned and applying it to campaigns with a whole new level of confidence!
