Jerrica Thurman is a distinguished executive known for her innovative leadership in strategy, communications, and driving nonprofit organizations to national prominence. With a career spanning over twenty years, Jerrica has become synonymous with transformative change, strategic growth, and the empowerment of individuals and teams to achieve their full potential.

Currently, as the President & CEO of Elation Communications, Jerrica spearheads the company’s vision, culture, and expansion, emphasizing strategic planning, brand development, and the cultivation of meaningful partnerships. Her tenure at Elation Communications has been marked by a series of successful initiatives aimed at enhancing brand visibility, driving organizational growth, and fostering an inclusive work environment that values creativity and collaboration.

Before her current role, Jerrica’s career was highlighted by significant achievements, including her impactful work at the Amputee Coalition. As Chief Strategy & Communications Officer, she was instrumental in securing a $15 million federal grant, thereby ensuring the organization’s financial stability and enhancing its services to the disability community. Her strategic interventions not only saved the organization’s largest revenue stream but also realigned its mission towards greater community impact and organizational efficiency.

Jerrica’s professional journey also includes pivotal roles at the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and Creative DCS, where she led marketing and communications efforts that significantly increased engagement, support for educators, and client outcomes. Her ability to navigate complex policy landscapes, coupled with a knack for innovative problem-solving, has been a hallmark of her career.

An adjunct professor and mentor, Jerrica’s passion for education extends beyond organizational leadership. She has shaped the futures of countless students through her roles at Ashford University and the Literacy Council of Montgomery County, emphasizing the importance of communication skills in professional success.

Jerrica’s academic credentials, with an MBA from Frostburg State University and a Master’s in Communications Management and Post Baccalaureate Certificate of Strategic Public Relations and Integrated Communications from Towson University, complement her extensive professional experience. A published author and managing editor, Jerrica contributes her voice and thought leadership to shape her profession and the next generation. Committed to creating opportunities for young professionals, Jerrica partnered with Media Careers for Minorities and NBC 10 WCAU to become the first minority chosen to participate in the Philadelphia-based program sponsored by the Emma Bowen Foundation and paved the way for other minorities to pursue their dreams. Her community involvement includes serving as a former board member of the Literacy Council of Montgomery County, MD, and a member of the Public Relations Society of America, American Society of Association Executives, Society of Adventist Communicators, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Learning First Alliance, Coalition of Education Association Publishers, and Toastmasters International.
