The Driving Force Behind Her Work

Mrs. Moss-Gransberry’s passion for transformation is deeply personal. When asked what inspires her to continue pushing boundaries, she reflects on her role as an elder and her responsibility to future generations:

“It’s about legacy. It’s about the world I am leaving for my grandchildren, now seven strong, ranging in age from seven months to 15 years. I have dedicated my time to making a difference for the next seven generations. I am committed to supporting the next generation of leaders and activists to create a world that is more just, loving, and free for us all.”

Advice for the Next Generation of Black Leaders

Monika Moss-Gransberry is not only a leader but a guiding light for emerging Black professionals and activists. Her advice to the next generation is grounded in integrity and a commitment to truth:

“Black leaders must continue to work in integrity, even when others do not. We must educate ourselves and others about the systems we work within so we can challenge them and make systemic changes that benefit everyone. We must sustain the excellence that creates real impact. Our generation must respect the energy and innovation of young leaders while sharing the wisdom of our experiences. In a time when misinformation is rampant, we must guide our people toward truth, so we can collectively build a future that is just, equitable, and thriving.”

She also emphasizes the importance of learning from the resilience of past generations:

“We must remember how our grandmothers and great-grandparents survived the life-and-death challenges of racism. Their strategies for survival and success must be adapted for today’s realities so that we, too, can not only survive but thrive.”
